EXPERIENCE

​I have more than 12 years of experience translating a broad range of

text types from German, Arabic and French into my mother tongue,

English. I have worked as both a freelancer and an in-house

translator, the latter for two German government bodies.

EYE FOR DETAIL

I have an eagle eye when it comes to finding errors - of spelling, grammar

and syntax. Not only will I translate your text faithfully and accurately

into flawless, idiomatic English - I will also pick up on any errors that

may have been missed in the source text.

NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKER

​British English is my native language, so I know what will sound wrong or right to a wide range of different English-speaking audiences. This means I adjust my writing style depending on whether you need a translation of a catchy marketing text, a complex academic paper, or a legal contract with no room for loopholes.

SUBJECT KNOWLEDGE

When translating any text, it's important to have background knowledge about the subject matter. I always go the extra mile to research whichever topic I'm translating, which means I familiarize myself with the specialist terminology in that field in both the source language and in English. CONSISTENCY AND CREATIVITY

Depending on the type of text you need translating, it may be crucial to ensure that the same word is translated the same way every time (i.e. in a contract). Marketing texts or academic papers may use specific terminology which needs to be translated consistently. On the other hand, more creative translations might require me to vary word choice so that the translation is exciting to read. Either way, you can be sure that I will be consistent when consistency is called for, and creative when creativity is the order of the day!
